Behind Every Image, A Story

The documentary film Behind Every Image, A Story explores the story behind the picture, like that of a black-and-white photograph of four Inuit men in traditional dress, standing on the banks of Baker Lake (Qamanittuaq) in Nunavut.

In 2002, a Library and Archives Canada initiative known as Project Naming was launched to identify those featured in photographs.

Behind Every Image, A Story goes further than simply identifying. In this documentary film, we meet with their descendants, definitively putting a name to the face.

Armed with a camera and a whole lot of curiosity, the inspiring multidisciplinary artist and keen photographer Samian brings the photographs to life. In this film, photography serves as the link between people, history and cultures.
